Who it suits

Checkerboard has been around long enough to stop being a trend and start being a request. Doing it in ivory and sage instead of black and white takes the loudness out, so it works for university, for an office, and for a teenager who wants something fun but not costume like. Short squoval keeps the squares neat.

Wearing it

Hand painted squares sit under the top coat, so the surface stays smooth and does not snag on fabric. With the check placed low on the nail, growth pushes the pattern slowly outward rather than exposing a bare gap. You can have the check on two nails and plain ivory on the rest.
