Who it suits

Slate grey is cool and a little bit cold, which is the point of it. It works if your wardrobe runs to black, white, denim and greys, and it is a sensible choice when you want tidy nails that do not announce themselves in a meeting or a class. Matte removes the shine, so the colour looks more like stone than polish.

Wearing it

Grey sits close in depth to the natural shadow of the nail bed, so the grow out is softer here than with a dark or a bright. Matte surfaces do pick up marks from oil and hand cream, so keep moisturiser to the cuticles and the sides of the nail. The short squoval shape is easy around wudu and around a small child. Ask for one nail in gloss if you want a little contrast.
