Who it suits

Jelly red works because you can see depth in it. Instead of sitting flat like a solid red, the translucent layers let light through, so the colour looks wet. Cherry is an easy red on warm brown skin, bright without tipping orange, and it holds its own beside a red or maroon joda. Almond at medium length lengthens shorter fingers.

Wearing it

Translucent reds behave better than opaque ones as the nail grows, because the edge of the colour is soft rather than a hard band. The trade-off is coverage: any ridge or mark on your own nail still shows through the jelly. Medium almond is manageable for most daily work but you will feel it while chopping.
