Colours that sit well beside deep henna
Henna dries to a deep reddish brown, and it will be in almost every photo of your hands. Nail colours that share its warmth tend to photograph well beside it. Warm golds, soft creams and deep maroons are the classic choices for a reason.

Nails first, mehndi after
The practical order is simple: finish the nails, then apply the mehndi. A cured, finished set is stable, so the mehndi artist can work around it comfortably. Applied carefully, henna stains the skin, not the nails.
The other way round is harder. Fresh mehndi needs hours of stillness while it dries, which makes a careful nail appointment awkward. If both must happen close together, put the nail appointment first and leave the biggest gap you can.
Keeping both safe on the day
Fresh mehndi and fresh nails ask the same thing of you: keep your hands still and dry for a while. Plan the day so you are not rushing from one to the other.
Once the set is done, treat your hands gently until the mehndi is fully dry too. Let family help with food, dupattas and phone calls. One calm evening protects weeks of planning.
Simple looks let the mehndi be the star
On mehndi day your hands are already full of pattern. A busy nail design competes with it, and in photos the two can blur together. A single clean colour, a soft French or a subtle shimmer gives the henna room to shine.
